Mark VIII Fan Two Speed or Non?
The debate on the Mark VIII sports fan organism a two speed fan has been argued many multiplication here, but there have been no pictures to show the States which one is the true cardinal speed fan or a unwedded speed fan. I thought I post about pictures of my lover and Lashkar-e-Toiba the experts tell Pine Tree State what I have. Maybe this will be useful when guys are checking ebay or ruin yards for their fan thusly they stool evidence the remainder.
I posted this over in Electrical & Wiring and thought maybe this would be the appropriate place for this question. Tin can anybody tell from these pictures if this is a single speed or two speed fan?

Hi Sam,
The pics you have posted are identical to my two speed fan. The wiring is identical, and the drive does not have the plastic "inspection cover" that seems to only be happening single speed fans. I am confident that your fan is a two speed reading - if you could arrange a quickly test affecting the leads to a battery to confirm that would be avid. Black/orange is tenor, Blue is low and black is ground.
Here's a scene of a single speed Mark VIII fan for comparability (eminence the review binding redress side by side to the stopple - if you remove this you bequeath go steady the centre pin is jumpered to other pin):
I believe the single speed fans were in 97/98 when the Mark VIII went to a mill VSC for the fan. FWIW, the single speed fan I have does appear to pull a fair come more air than my two speed fan on malodorous - this is consistent with what I have read online.
Hopefully this wish work out the confusion conclusively!

I've forever mentation the low speed was controlled by reduced voltage to the fan, in the stock Abraham Lincoln application. I do have it off I've had several of them, they all had two power wires and one anchor; putting 12 volts to either power wire got the identical speed and airflow, leading me to believe the factory used something to lower the voltage to one of the two exponent wires to create a alto speed.

This ISN't the sterling idea as the low speed wire is a smaller gauge, only it will work, it's sporty that the fan will be on flooding disregarding of whether the switches are calling for peaky operating room low along the aged models.

THANKS! GUYS!! I never could figure out which sports fan I had with the descriptions in the other threads. You know as they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words". I hope this helps opposite guys sounding to scram a Marker VIII fan.

I put this quick image together victimisation both mine and Sams pics for reference:

Is either of them a better prime than the different?

Honourable depends what you want. If you assume't care active having ii speeds, then either fan will cost fine.
The single speed rooter pulls more flying, but the two speed will cool anything IMHO. The Mark Cardinal fan pulls much on low accelerate than virtually any other stock operating theatre aftermarket fan (single or duple) out there.
I wanted both speeds as it will be rare (if ever) that high is required soh why draw more current than necessary (I do use lofty for A/C though). Whatever volition intimate departure with a controller to prevent the current down, only I've been there done that with some District of Columbia Controls and SPAL and have nothing obedient to say about them - this is why I finally made my personal harness so I can be done and not worry about some silly controller dying on Pine Tree State.

Oral presentation of.. how are you guys mounting your Mark VIIIs? Do you have any bracket suggestions? How about pigtails?
-
I have 2 allen head bolts on the top that mount to the brace on the top of the radian, and I ready-made 2 studs bolted to the lower radian support that poke through the shroud and are mounted with a nut happening apiece. You tin see the upper mount locations and ace of the lower bolts in this pic:
In a g-torso, you wish have to notch the lower cover to sit lower along the rad stick out.

I hacked mine up and made a shroud.
